About the Amberjacks
As a Summer Swim Team with TSA, the Quail Hollow Amberjacks work hard to include all level of swimmers with the goal of improving skill and speed while promoting a love for the sport of swimming. In order to do this while remaining in compliance with TSA and keeping our swimmers safe, we have a multi tiered program based upon a swimmer's ability. Our beginning group is called "Mini Amberjacks". Once swimmers have advanced out of this group then we have a leveling system in order to help practices run more efficiently. See below for information on each leveled group, and feel free to contact us with questions.
Amberjacks Group Descriptions
Mini Amberjacks: This is a group of Amberjacks, is made of swimmers who are water-safe, but aren't quite "competitive" yet. This group will meet 3 days a week with a focus on building strength in flutter kicking, and stroke mechanics. We will work towards completing 25 yards of legal freestyle and backstroke by the end of the season. These swimmers will compete in two "Mini Meets" held just for them on select Saturday Mornings with Junior Coaches.
Green Group: This is a group of Amberjacks, who are able to swim multiple laps of legal freestyle and backstroke with breaks between laps. In this group we will focus on building a strong kick, improving stroke technique/mechanics across all 4 strokes, improving dives, and teaching relay starts. Our goal here is to see progress through building confidence and endurance.
Blue Group: This is a group of Amberjacks who are strong swimmers, able to swim multiple laps back to back with short bits of rest (ie. 3 continuous laps, then a break). The goal in this group is to perfect stroke technique/mechanics, perfect dives/relay starts, and continue to build endurance and strength through kick sets, and longer yardage.
White Group: This is a group of Amberjacks, who are very strong swimmers able to swim several laps consecutively using flipturns in both freestyle and backstroke. In this group we will do some technique work, but the focus will be on giving the swimmers longer yardage sets with little rest, meant to push swimmers and increase speed.

Meet Our Coaches
Coach Marlie (Head Coach)
From the time my grandmother taught me to swim, my mother simply could not get me out of the pool. I was a total fish! I did not become involved in competitive swimming until we moved to Pennsylvania in 2003, and I was looking for a way to make some friends and get involved. Swim Team was the perfect option. I joined my high school swim team, and the following summer, I joined the YMCA Swim Team. I began coaching at the YMCA a year later, working primarily with the 7-8's and 6&U groups. My awesome coach taught me so much about swimming and coaching that I looked for swimming opportunities when I got to East Carolina. I began swimming for the ECU Club team, and found a coaching position in Greenville with GSC, where I worked mostly with the 11-12's, while also running the ECU Club Swim Team as President from 2010 to 2012. I am so happy to have found Quail Hollow, I can honestly say that I had forgotten how much I LOVE swimming and coaching. 2017 was an amazing summer and I am excited to be poolside again!

Coach Cameron (Assistant Coach)
I was introduced to the water at a very young age and fell in love with swimming. Since the age of 6 years old I have been competitively swimming and have enjoyed every summer and high school swim season! Swimming was a big way to make friends at my pool, test myself athletically, and most importantly, have fun. I swam for my high school team, where I really pushed myself to become the best swimmer I could. I was a captain my senior year, which only boosted my love for swimming. Although I haven’t been an Amberjack for very long, I feel more at home here than at any other summer pool. I’m very excited to help coach this team to some fun and exciting meets this season!

Coach Hannah (Minis Coach)
My name is Hannah Faber and I am from McDonough, Georgia! My mom put my brother and I in swim lessons when I was two and on the neighborhood swim team to “try it out” when I was four. It has been history every since! Joining a year round team at the age of seven, I worked closely with my coach as a swim instructor for Swimmerman Swim School and as an 8 and Under coach! I love working with kids and babysit in my free time. Since moving up to Raleigh in 2016, I swam for Cardinal Gibbons my senior year and now attend East Carolina University where I swim on the club team. I am very excited to be apart of the Quail Hollow team and can not wait to meet my mini Amberjacks!
